{my sister texted me this picture from the party}
Saturday was the annual awards banquet for the fire department which was to be held a local country club. I knew there was a D.J. for the event which would mean a late night and I have a daughter who likes to get up at the butt crack of dawn , so I decided to ask my sister if we could do one of our infamous kid swaps. She takes mine over night and then on night when she's got something planned, I repay the favor. Saturday worked out well because she already had plans to attend a birthday party at an indoor bounce house so my kids got to spend the afternoon surrounded by peeps their age.
While my kids were busy burning off some energy, I was exerting as little as possible. I haven't had an afternoon to myself in ages so I went for a haircut, watched a Julia Roberts movie and painted my finger nails...and let me tell you it was glorious.
When Jon came home from the errands he was running (buying a new shirt from Kohl's and then going directly back because he bought the wrong size) he cracked the whip so I flat ironed my hair, put on some lipstick and then of course texted a kissy face picture to my friend's husband because he loves it when I wear my hair straight.
{muah}
Since Jon is the prez of the fireman's association he did all of the speaking (which was very nice I must say) and the ameretto sour drink(s) I had were hitting the spot. Drinking led to dancing which led to crashing the party next door with some fireman wives which includes us hitting their dance floor...well you get the picture.

When we got home at one o'clock I told Jon "if I see your face before nine tomorrow morning, you will suffer extreme consequences." I haven't slept past the seven o'clock hour in forever (thankyouverymuchHaylee} so I just wanted to see what it was like. Of course I woke at eight and started thinking about everything I had to accomplish before noon so that was that.
My dad's family wasn't able to get together in December so we rented a hall to get together on Sunday afternoon, my sister was going to meet us there with the kids. My cousin Cyrinda is known for her famous pumpkin roll so when I found out she wasn't planning to bring it, I was sure to call her out on it.
{matching dress and balloons}
I picked up a few bags of punching balloons at Walmart while I was
getting everything around for my dish to pass, they entertained fifteen
kids for $6.00...so worth it.
{she was so full of static by the end of the day}
We had such a great time visiting with everyone, I wish we saw them more than just twice a year. My aunt brought a ton of old pictures for us to look through so it was neat listening to my dad tell who (and what) was in the pictures. I was beyond excited when my aunt said I could take the bag home to scan for everyone.
As I went around the room trying to take pictures of my people, I had a few family members who thought it would be funny to photo bomb every.single.one. There usually one in the bunch, right? In my family there are multiples.

I had such a great mix of time this weekend ~ family time, quiet time, me time and in the blink of an eye it was over and then it all came crashing down Sunday night....the grip. Achy and stuffy and coughing just in time to go back to work, but hey I'm glad it didn't ruin my weekend!
