To see what all the hype was about, I logged on to Pintrest for the first time just before Christmas and since that day, I have had a "my house is barely livable hovel" funk. You may remember the fireplace removal project or the extreme shitter makeover from last month, well this week I decided to move on to the next...
{The Gateway to Paneling Hell}
I will start by showing you the hallway leading to our basement. It is an entrance right off the kitchen so you walk by it every five minutes and there is no hiding the 1970's perma-decor. The railing was not attached to a stud so it ripped out of the wall soon after we moved in and the holes were just left gaping. From the gaps in the paneling I knew there was drywall underneath it, so this week we decided to rip it down...what could be the worst, right?
How about that the paneling was glued down so it ripped the paper off otherwise decent looking drywall? We had a guy I know come and "skim coat" it, which means it makes it look like a complete wall again? I won't show you the rest of the pics until I have a true before vs. after but let's just say that there is more paneling as you get down there. And evergreen tree wallpaper. And trout fishing border.
{Duct tape holding on the broken trim}
Coming soon...a room sans wallpaper, border and paneling.
Damn you Pinterest, damn you.

Trout fishing trim?? Seriously?
So far, I've stayed away from Pinterest.
Oh no, you know what you had? It's a special, limited edition drywall that came with paneling glued to it. We had it in our front porch and Matt actually to it to where he worked and he found out that it used to be the cool thing. Until people realized how ridiculous it really was.
Pinterest is amazing. (Spoken like a true addict)
