Tonight the Firefighter's Association was hosting Santa at Culver's Restaurant so we rehearsed what we were going to say and then packed into the car...this was going to be our only chance to see Santa this year! Everyone was ready to tell him exactly what was on their list, including David.
Ryan hopped right into
We tried to get Haylee up there next, she was so excited to tell him she wanted a cat, a dog and a baby but when face-to-face with him, she started crying her eyes out! She said he was trying to get her and she didn't like him so we waited and sent David up instead. David asked for a hippopotamus...of course.
After we were through eating I let everyone get ice cream but told Haylee she needed to talk to Santa first. Damn, I'm not getting chocolate ice cream on her shirt before a potential photo! I asked the neighbor girl to take Haylee up there (the neighbor girl had NO idea it was her own dad behind the beard) and when they got there she sat for three seconds and then jumped down and headed to the ice cream counter. Whatever works, right?
Before we left I saw another shy guy who was hiding in his booth. When Santa snuck over and asked what he wanted this kid said he wanted another cheeseburger! Now that was classic.
Anyone else with kiddos scared of the man in red carrying around a bowl full of jelly?

I think many kids are afraid of the man (stranger) in red. I had an email from my niece that has 22 photos of kids, (lots of them twins or siblings) all crying on Santa's lap.
We made the mistake of taking Baby C to see Santa at the mall (Rivertown). There were no tears, but oh my goodness is that Santa a RIP OFF! They don't let you take your own pictures anymore and the cheapest option is a 5 x 7 for SEVENTEEN DOLLARS! Good grief! Hubby G just snapped a picture with his cell phone and we got yelled at, but at least we got a photo :)
My son would start screaming hysterically if he even spotted Santa across the mall, and forget Santa bringing presents on Christmas! He wasn't interested. He's eight now, and has stopped going into convulsions when he sees him, but he still wants nothing to do with the jolly fat man.
Love your blog-you make me laugh.
