Let Me Motivate You (I Hope).

I haven't posted about weight loss in a while so I thought I would get you up to speed.  Katie and I started this journey on September 26th, just over ten weeks ago.  We started out by simply counting our calories with an app on our phones called Lose It! (you can also track online at www.loseit.com).  In mid-October when I lost my aunt and grandma in the same week we both fell off the grid, but came back strong.

We started walking during our lunch hour to gain ourselves more calories for the day, it was a struggle at first but got easier as the days went by....walking two miles in forty minutes, in thirty seven minutes, in thirty five minutes.  When the weather turned colder and walking wasn't easy anymore, we decided to sign up for a one-week free trial at a gym just a few minutes from work.  It was time for something more.

The first few days we did an elliptical machine and I felt like I might honestly die on the spot, sweat poured out of my body like it was ninety in there and I was wearing a snowsuit.  But in a sick way, it felt good.  After the Thanksgiving holiday we went in and made it official and getting back on that elliptical machine after having time off, it was like starting back at square one.  I only made 16 minutes my first day without nearly falling off of the damn thing and lying there to wait for the vultures.

BUT, now this week we have gone every single lunch hour and after finishing the elliptical, we have done some workouts on the arm machines...so it gets easier with every passing day.

At week ten we have dropped twenty seven pounds between us.  I'm obviously dropping more weight than Katie because she's already 1/2 my size.  We have been taking progress photos in our skivvies (which would make you lose your lunch) but yesterday did a side-by-side and noticed some very obvious improvements!  Those visuals were very motivating so although I hated taking the pictures I am glad we have them.

Tonight I pulled a pair of jeans out of the "headed to Goodwill" pile because I couldn't even button them three months ago and much to my surprise they fit like they were my favorite pair.  I know it sounds cliche but I have to say it because it is so true.  If I can do it...ANYONE can do it.  There are a ton of overweight people at the gym and there are old grandma's walking on the treadmill every day and I mean like seventy years old!

With every day I am gaining more confidence in myself and my goal today is to hit 20 pounds by Christmas.

Feeling very inspired. I am trying to gather the guts to start walking every night like I did a few months back. I always grumble when I start, but I never regret it afterward. Very proud of you! Keep up the great work!!

I am very proud of you and can't wait until the day you are totally confident in yourself that you are able to post those pictures for us all to see the amazing transformation. I am inspired and it makes me want to do something. Not sure what that is, but something. You have 16 days to lose the 2 pounds that you hope for. I hope that when you hop on that scale on Christmas morning, you have lost 3. Merry Christmas!

You'll make twenty pounds by Christmas with no trouble at all! This time next year you'll be a shadow of your former self.
Congratulations.
I really must get back to walking.

Cliches tend to be true...*anyone* can exercise. You just have to get over the hurdle of starting. Way to go! Your layout is so awesome!
