I have worked for companies in the past who thought office parties were a waste of time or simply gave employees an excuse to screw around all day...and then I started working here. Teamwork and a sense of family was already engrained into the employees long before I arrived. But now that I am in charge of Human Resources and I get to throw the parties (along with my trusty sidekick, Katie) and we always try to have as much fun as possible, which in turn binds people together...somehow.

When you are in this position, people put you on a pedestal and you would be slitting your own throat to disappoint. When people walked through the door, they wanted to see what Katie and I were dressed as...if we had done nothing, we would have lost all street cred.
Everyone brought a dish to pass along with a pumpkin as our party was a BYOP (bring your own pumpkin), the winner was given an awesome prize too. We set up tables family style for people to eat together, even those who forgot a dish...we don't discriminate against party lovers who have temporarily lost their minds.
After an awesome day at work, I was forced to head to my first night of school for the semester...if it hadn't been the first night, I would have totally skipped and went trick-or-treating with the kids. It seems like they had a good time and Jon took lots of pictures, so for that I am thankful.

I ran home from work and got them in costume before heading to class so at least I knew Haylee had make-up on her face! Nonna made them all dinner and then trolled the neighborhood with them for candy.
David's mom brought him over to join, along with his sister Kendra (who of course my kids love) so that was nice. So it was one big happy ex-wife and new husband along with the ex-mother-in-law family sandwich! Which makes me almost happy that I was in class, but whatever.

Most enjoyable for me was looking into their candy bags this morning and seeing NO crap candy...no suckers, no little tootsie rolls or gum but instead the big bags of candy and mini candy bars which have been calling my name since the moment I laid eyes on them.
Halloween is by far one of my most favorite holidays, but I'm already looking forward to the next one! I have even lined up a turkey fryer for our feast at work. It was nice to hear people walk by my office on their way out yesterday and say "thank you, I really had a good time today." It makes all the hard work, worth while.

There's enough candy there to last till Christmas!
Of all the years I have worked...I would have given anything to have an HR person like you. Nice job and I know your crew appreciated the hard work you put into it. Weren't my grandbabies too cute!
In all my years of working (20+) I have only had one workplace that we really promoted Halloween and dressing up, I miss those days. It looks like you had tons of fun!
