A Night Out With All My Favorite Guys...

On Thursday I got an e-mail from my dad saying he got four tickets to a Red Wings game from one of his steel suppliers at work.  Although the game was only one day away, we pulled together a plan and made it happen...and thankfully so because I had one of the best nights I've had in a long time.

No I didn't buy Ryan's jersey at the Joe Lewis Arena for fifty plus dollars, I paid $15.00 at Wal-Mart, thankyouverymuch for those those roll back prices!

We all got out of work a little early and met near Lansing and made our way into Detroit, after two and a half hours on the road.  The trip actually went by very quickly since we were visiting so that was nice.

When we walked into the arena I immediately wanted to snap some pictures but realized the battery I had been charging was still in the Jeep! When I nearly started crying Jon made the journey back to the parking garage and only got out by telling the attendant his wife needed medicine for her diabetes...I'm sure we're going to be paid back for that lie in some way or another.

Once I had a working camera in my hands, I starting taking pics with Ryan and with dad and then dad with Ryan and...well you get the idea.  So then dad and I went out to get some game-time snacks and when I came back I found this picture.  I guess, I totally forgot that Jon might have wanted a picture of himself with Ryan at his first hockey game?  Oops.

Our seats were awesome, only eight rows from the ice and smack dab in the middle so we could see both sides at all times.  The tickets were $125.00 a piece and this supplier just gives them away for free?  Plus he gave us a parking pass which I'm sure was worth a pretty penny.  Free...

Ryan was pretty excited that we were going to be on TV and they just had to show us because we were right behind the players box!

When everybody would stand up Ryan couldn't see the action so he got the best seat in the house.  We wondered how he would do after being in the car for two and a half hours and being up way past his bedtime but all-in-all he did awesome.  My dad tried to keep him engaged by telling him what was going on and of course we were waiting for the FIGHTS!

We filled him up with hot dogs, popcorn and coke...every kids dream!

It had been a long time since I've had a chance to spend time with my dad so it was great getting to do something he loves, he seemed just as excited as I was too.  I know he never had boys to experience sports with him so I think it's just fabulous he has two grandsons now, especially one who is already showing such an interest.

My throat was hurting from screaming so loud!  There were two good fights and three goals for the Red Wings and we got to "boo" a lot too...cuz it's fun to boo.

Between plays they would put on loud music and then show people from the crowd doing crazy things or dancing and Ryan REALLY wanted to get on the television.  Jon would put him up on the railing and he would jiggle his little butt but never got on...he would be so disappointed each time but then got right back up there when the music came on to try again.

When we were nearing the end of the game one of the ushers came up to our row and handed Ryan one of their official practice pucks!  I assume because he was trying so hard to get on the TV and because he was being such a good sport?  Ryan ran right down and gave the old guy a high five...or low five, whichever way you look at it.

Two hours back to Lansing to drop off my dad and he stayed up the entire time watching a movie with his grandpa and eating snacks.  I had to laugh when he told my dad that if they ate too many snacks, they would poop the bed.  I think he was punch drunk being it was almost midnight!

Awesome night...one of the best!

The next morning I picked up Haylee from my friend Katie's house and it seems she had a great time too.  Katie of course did her hair in all different kinds of pony tails and braids, which I knew would happen.  Katie's husband is hankerin' for a little girl so I'm sure Haylee's visit didn't help the matter, Katie wants to be done having babies!

She looks so old playing games with her little hair bow!

Katie posted this picture on Facebook and said "you would never know her mom takes her picture, the little poser".  I'm sure they spoiled her rotten and she had a good time playing with their kids too.

She sent her home with some french braids and everyone who saw her Saturday commented on how cute her hair was, which means I need to step up my hair game I guess!

Thank you to Rob and Katie for everything and thanks to the steel supplier dude for the free tickets, I cannot say enough how much fun we had that night!

First of all, I *love* the photo of you and Ryan ("Mama's Boy")...so cute. Secondly, your husband is awesome for going back to get your camera battery! Please tell him your blog friends appreciate his efforts, otherwise it would have been difficult for us to get the "full effect" without photos documenting your experience!

Aww, so glad Ryan got a practice puck! I'd say that's BETTER than getting on the TV screen! :)

Looks like you all had a great time. Love free tickets AND the overnight sitter. Every little girl's Momma needs to know the french braid trick. Step it up girlfriend. It's not like you don't have time to learn!

Oh yes! You're definitely going to have to step up in the hair stakes, now that Haylee has been pampered a bit with braids. (Your own hair looks good, short and dark)
Yay, Ryan got a practice puck! Something to build a memory on. Looks like you all had a great night.
You dad looks very young.
