No...Those Are Not Halloween Toenails.

We actually had plans to go to an adult Halloween party this past weekend.  We had the babysitter lined up for at least a month and costumes have been bought for quite some time.  But as the date got closer and I was hearing my friend Katie talk about all the Halloween activities at Avalanche Bay (and how cheap it was) I decided that what I'd really rather do is take our kids there instead of leaving them with a sitter while we went to a drunk fest.

We've already caught some flack for "choosing" to be with our kids instead of going to that party, but you know what I've got to say to those people, right?  Ugh, just don't make me say it out loud.

We unloaded everything into or hotel room and immediately changed into our swim suits. When we were all ready to go I looked over at Jon's feet (which have obviously gone without attention since the cold weather moved in) and I told him to make sure he lost himself once we got to the water park.

The first thing the boys wanted to do was body board; it was something we had heard about before we ever arrived. I didn't know if Ryan would be allowed since he was so small but thankfully when he got to the top the guy gave him a high five and let him get down to business.

David loved it and went back no less than fifteen times over the past few days.  He rode the waves really well and seemed to have no problems, which was awesome because some of the grown men wiped out every time they tried.

And even though this was the result nearly every single time Ryan tried, he went back just as many times David did.  One person even made mention of his track record of wipe outs, but at least he was trying.  I was just so proud of him for going back over and over, even though he was failing.

Every once in a while we would run into Rob and Katie and switch up kids, or ride the same rides and that was nice.  We did have a couple of instances though...once I saw Kendall running scared because she couldn't find her mom so I made her sit with me and then another time Haylee was running around to the back of a slide and when she didn't come down and we couldn't find her, it was Rob who saw her alone and let him go with her.  There were four adults looking out for five kids and it worked against us a few times...gave me a heart attack!

The babies loved the slides and honestly they were super fun for me too!  They were long and twisty and went fast...so even though we had two babies, we could still do things that were fun for us too.

After we wore ourselves out at the water park, we went back to the room to get our costumes on for the indoor trick-or-treat.  There were tons of families walking around all in costume trick-or-treating and the kids were just so happy.

I had Katie take an obligatory family photo in front of the hotel.  For it being dark outside, I think it turned out pretty good!

I also got one shot of each of them individually, with the headless pumpkin man.

After we were through trick-or-treating we got a bite to eat inside the hotel and then went outside to the bonfire where they were providing smores.  It was really chilly so we only stayed for a few minutes before finally heading back to our room after a long day.

Ryan down two smores...

Because Haylee hated hers.

All in all we had a fabulous time, even more so the kids had a fabulous time which made it all worth it to me.  And how could I not end a post without poking some fun at Jon?  The kids finally convinced him to try the body boarding, even though he was leery.

Katie and I sat our butts in the very front row of the spectators section, just to "provide support". We offered up a whole lot of it...as you will hear on the video.

Happy Halloween Everybody!

If I had to choose between Park fun with the kids and a drunk fest, I'd choose the kids too! Much more fun for you when you can see the kids having fun too. The photo of Haylee drying her hair is very cute!
I wish I could try the body boarding, that looks like so much fun!

Love the family photo. You guys all looked great! I also loved the support you and Katie were giving Jon at the end. Wish I could have been there to point and laugh also.
